WHO IS BURIED
IN THE CEMETERY?
Whilst built principally for the
Dissenting Congregations (Baptist and
Congregational) you can see from the
Registers that burials have been
performed by incumbents of every
Church in Frome and also from further
afield.
People are buried here from every
church in Frome. The church or group
they belonged to is not recorded in the
registers. However, their faith is
indicated by whoever performed the
ceremony: The vicar of Christchurch, the
curate of St. John's, the vicar of Holy
Trinity, St. Mary's, as well as all of the
dissenting churches, the Methodist
churches, and even people of no
denomination. Today, as always, there is
no restriction as to who can be buried
here. There are Methodists buried here,
both Wesleyan, Primitive and United.
Interestingly Wesleyans are not
technically non-conformists or dissenters,
because they still attended the Anglican
churches in the town.
The registers of the cemetery record
who is buried here. CD versions are
available to enable researchers to enquire
about relatives whose final resting place
is here. The Cemetery contains over 6200
burials and interred cremated remains.
